Run-a-Way

In this assignment we will present events that took place or are to take place in Athens which are characterized by innovation and leadership. More specifically, we are going to present the cultural program that will run in the next months in Athens.

For nearly three years, the city of Athens has multiply the cultural event and has support by many ways the festival s. Every year the mayor- Mr Kaminis- present the program of Texnopolis at a press conference. Attending this year’s conference we observed some differences on program on comparison with the previous one. It is the first time that mayor did not present the event of Texnopolis but the cultural program of the City of Athens which will run until the next November. The new program which named “Downtown and Neighborhood in the same stage” is the result of a co-operation of three operations. (Municipality of Athens, Texnopolis and Athens Art Network). The main goals of cooperation are to make clear that Athens is a lived city with many events in which can participate not only the citizens of Athens but also the tourist. They want to make Athens a cultural destination by offering different kind of events with free entrance or law ticket. One more thing is that the new program wants to take advantages of all the neighborhood and green parks of city. Thereby, new places will be known.

• Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival: This European festival organized in Texnopolis many years but this year change its name by adding “Athens” in the title in order to give a strong stigma of the event. In addition, it became a world festival by ensuring participations from different countries. Although, the duration of the event has limited that happen in order to let the festival be competitive.        

• Recycling Festival      

• 11η Festival of Volunteering       

• Jumping Fish Festival: It is the first time that this festival organized in Texnopolis.        

• 5ο ATHENS  SCHOOL FESTIVAL: This Festival let Athens’ groups which are consisted by students introduce themselves in the public. This is the first time that will take place in the same time the “YouTuber Meeting” and the “Athens Video Art Festival”.       

• GRUPO COMPAY SEGUNDO   BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB: It is about a Latin Fiesta.

Athens Art Network

 

• Garden of Athens: The goal of this program is to highlight the gardens of Athens by organized concerts with free entrance.       

• “Our Paticion”: With this event the Art Network gives us the opportunity to discover this avenue which used to be a commercial one with many theaters and cinemas.       

• The little Paris of Athens: It is about the area which is located between omonia’s square, Vathi’s square and Karaiskaki’s square. The streets in this area are named after names inspired from France.
